Improper use of this Pole Saw
can cause severe in)ury or death
from fh'e, electrical shock, or body
contact with moving cha|n, or
falling wood.
EXTENSION CORDS
Use properextensioncordswiththisPole
Saw. Use onlyextensioncordsmarkedfor
outdooruse.The cordmustbe markedwith
suffixW or W-A followingthecordtype
designation.Example:SJTW-A orsyrw.
Use propersizecordwiththissaw.Cord
must be heavy enough to carrycurrent
needed.An undersizedcordwillcausevolt-
age dropatsaw.Saw willlosepowerand
overheat. Follow cord size requ£rements
listed below.

Keep cordaway from cuUingarea.Make

ADJUSTING POLE LENGTH
The RemingtonPoleSaw hasa tele,_oping
pole assemblythatwin extend _ 57
inches(fullyretracted) to 96 inches(fully
extended).A threadedcompressioncou-
plingis used to hold the polein position at
any extendedlength.
1. To extendthepole,loosencouplingby
turning couplingnut €ountemlockwise
asshowninFigure8.Polewillslide
freely.
2. Pullinnerpolesectionoutto desired
length ofexteusinn. Note: Only extend
pole to minimum length required to
reachlimbthatisbeingcut.
3. To lockpoleinposition,tightencou-
plingbyturningcouplingnu_clockwise
(see Figure 8) un_ _mIy hand tight.
Maim sure sawhandle is alignedwith
pole handle before tightening coupling
nut. IMPOFfFANT:Do not use wrench
or pliers to ove_ghtea coupling. Dam-
age to coupling or pole may result.

OILING CHAIN
To oilchain,pressoilcap.Oilwillfeedonto
guidebarandchain.Pressoilcapat least
oncebeforeeachcut.Alwayscheckoillevel
beforeusingPoleSaw.Checkoilleveioften
bylookingatoilsightlevelhole.Oilsight
level hole is on left side of saw, between
front handle and front hand guard. Do not
attempt to operate the oiler while cutting
with the Pole Saw.
CUTTING WiTH THE POLE
SAW
I. Connectsaw to extensioncord_Con-
nect extension cord to power supply.
2. Use beth hands to grip Pole Saw. Use
only designated grip areaswhen oper_
atingPole Saw (see Fignre 9). Use firm
grip. Thumbs and fingers must wrap
aroundPole Saw handle and pole.
3. Make s_e your footing is firm. Keep
feet apart. Divide your weight evenly
on both feet.
4. Whea reedytomake acat,pressintrig-
gerswitchlock-outandsqueeze_g-
ger switch(seeFigure10).Thiswill
turnPoleSaw on.Releasingu-igger
switchwillturnPoleSaw off.Make
suresaw isrunningatfullspeedbe-
forestarlingacot.
5. When startinga cut,placemoving
chainagainstwood.Hold PoleSaw
firmlyinplacetoavoidpossiblebounc-
ingorskating(sidewaysmo,iameat)of
saw.

GuidePoleSaw usinglight pressure.
Do notforcePoleSaw.Themotorwill
overloadandcanbum out.Itwilldo
thejobbetterandsaferattheratefor
whichitwasintended.
. Remove Pole Saw froma cut with saw
runningatfullspeed. Stop Pole Saw
byreleasingtrigger.Make surechain
hasstoppedbeforesettingPoleSaw
down.
